Advanced settings: trim, quality, dimensions and audio

Media files never leave your browser. FFmpeg WebAssembly is downloaded from this site when needed. Processing can take time and use substantial memory.

How to convert or compress video

Choose a file, select video mode, output format, quality and optionally a smaller resolution. Press Process locally and download the result. MP4 verkleinen and video comprimeren happen on your device.

Trim video, extract audio and create thumbnails

Enter start and end seconds to trim a clip. Select Extract audio for a sound file or Thumbnail for a still frame. Audio files can be converted, adjusted and normalized when the bundled codec and filter are available. Choose Merge audio tracks and upload 2–4 clips to join them in order.

Which formats work?

The selected FFmpeg WebAssembly build determines available codecs. Possible outputs include MP4, WebM, WAV, MP3, OGG, Opus and FLAC, but unavailable encoders are rejected rather than silently claimed supported. Large files can exhaust browser memory.

FAQ

Are uploads required?

No. The conversion works locally after the engine has been downloaded from GratisTools.

Is it free?

Yes, with no processing fees. Your device performs the work.

Why might a codec fail?

FFmpeg builds vary in available decoders, encoders, containers and patent licensing. Some files may be incompatible.

Open-source licenses and source code

This software uses code of FFmpeg licensed under GPLv2 or later. The browser engine is the unmodified @ffmpeg/core 0.12.10 build. See corresponding build source, upstream FFmpeg source, and the site license notices.
