Scan from a file or camera

ZXing decodes supported formats, including QR, EAN-8, EAN-13, Code 128 and Data Matrix. Barcode readability depends on focus, resolution and contrast. Camera access is only requested when you press Start camera scanning; you can stop it at any time.

What does a barcode mean?

The raw payload is always shown. EAN/GTIN check digits are checked where applicable; GS1 application identifiers and EPC/SEPA payment QR contents are interpreted where recognised. A valid check digit does not verify product authenticity. An EPC QR only contains a proposed bank transfer, so always confirm details in your banking app.

FAQ

Are screenshots sent to a server?

No. Images and camera frames stay in your browser, and ZXing is bundled locally.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Barcode decoding runs with JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your browser tab. Your files are read from your device and the results are created on your device; nothing is sent to gratistools.be or anyone else, which is also why there are no queues, daily limits or watermarks. See the privacy page.
