Who Is Responsible for My Address?

Start with a postcode. Get the exact municipality and region, plus the correct official route for police, fire, energy, water and waste.

Local: yes. Your input stays on your device and is not sent to an external service for this tool.

The postcode/locality lookup uses the bundled bpost + Statbel/REFNIS dataset. It does not send your address anywhere.

Exact where possible, locator where necessary

Municipality, NIS code, province and region are resolved from the bundled Belgian place dataset. Some service territories are more granular than a postcode or change independently, so the tool deliberately links to the relevant official locator instead of guessing a police zone, water supplier or intermunicipal operator.

Why this is useful

Belgian responsibilities are split across municipality, province, region, police/rescue zones and utility operators. This page gives one starting point while preserving the authority of the official service behind each result.

Open source

The municipality/region and service-routing engine is MIT-licensed in belgian-utils / address-authorities.js.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Postcode and municipality resolution runs in your browser, so nothing you add is sent to gratistools.be. See the privacy page for details.
