Merge PDF Files

How to merge PDF files

  1. Choose or drop your PDF files. You can add more at any time.
  2. Drag the files into the order you want, or use the arrow buttons (handy on phones and with a keyboard). Sort by name orders files like chapter-2 before chapter-10.
  3. Optionally type a page selection for any file, such as 1-3, 7, to include only those pages.
  4. Press Merge PDF and download the result.

Images (JPG, PNG, WebP) can be mixed in and become pages at their natural size — useful for adding a scanned signature page or a photo of a receipt to a report.

What is kept

Pages are copied exactly: text stays selectable and searchable, and links, form fields and annotations on each page are kept. Document-level extras such as bookmarks (outlines) of the individual files are not carried over, because they would point into the wrong document after merging.

Password-protected files work too: you're asked for the password, the file is unlocked in your browser, and the result is saved without a password. Files that only restrict printing or copying are opened automatically.

Limits

There's no file-count or page limit other than your device's memory. Merging a few hundred pages is instant on a laptop; very large scanned documents (hundreds of MB) may take a while on older phones. If the merged file is larger than you'd like, run it through Compress PDF.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Merging runs with JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your browser tab. Your files are read from your device and the results are created on your device; nothing is sent to gratistools.be or anyone else, which is also why there are no queues, daily limits or watermarks. See the privacy page.
