How does target-size compression work?
The tool searches for the highest image quality that fits your KB target. If quality alone is not enough, it also reduces dimensions. JPG is recommended for photos; WebP can be smaller, but not every application accepts it.
Limits
Very detailed pictures may still exceed a tiny target; the final size is shown and not falsely promised. Transparency is replaced with white for JPG. Output files lose original EXIF and GPS metadata. Processing is local.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Image compression runs with JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your browser tab. Your files are read from your device and the results are created on your device; nothing is sent to gratistools.be or anyone else, which is also why there are no queues, daily limits or watermarks. See the privacy page.
